The Food Emporium is a chain of grocery stores originally part of Shopwell Inc. Acquired in 1986 by The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P), The Food Emporium operated approximately 30 stores as of December 31, 2010, in Manhattan, Westchester County, New York, and Fairfield County, Connecticut. The New York City stores were converted from the A&P brand when the parent company re-branded its NYC stores as The Food Emporium or Waldbaum's.
The Food Emporium is well-known for its "Someone Made a Store Just for Me" radio jingle.
After A&P purchased the Kohl's Food Stores chain in Wisconsin, many of those stores were re-branded as Kohl's Food Emporium; new stores were opened as such. The Food Emporium remained the primary format of the Kohl's stores until the Wisconsin chain ended in 2003.
The Food Emporium company should not be confused with the Food Emporium food court at the Westfield San Francisco Centre; the latter is related to The Emporium department store.
In Canada, A&P used the Food Emporium name for upscale locations of its Dominion store division into the mid-1990s.
